Abstract
In this study, we analyzed the existence of the supplier-induced demand in the public and the private hospitals and whether New Diagnosis Related Group Based Payment affected the supplier-induced demand. This study used the public and the private hospitals¡¯ data between 2009 and 2017 from National Health Insurance Service to implement the panel study on the entire hospitals, the public and the private hospitals respectively, and the public hospitals alone. The analysis on the entire hospitals showed that the supplier-induced demand occurred in the hospitals. Estimation on the public and the private hospitals respectively found that the supplier-induced demand occurred in the private hospitals only.
This study is meaningful in the sense that we analyzed the public and the private hospitals respectively to find that there occurred the supplier-induced demand in those hospitals.
